School Counselling
What is the Service? Who is the Service for?
The school counsellors here at Haverfordwest High VC School are Amanda Griffiths and Brigitte Osborne.
They work with our young people to support their emotional wellbeing through counselling. Counselling offers you the opportunity to talk about things that may be causing you concern.
The service is targeted at young people who will benefit from a short period of counselling. The service follows professional ethical guidelines as well as safeguarding policies and practices so what you talk about will remain confidential unless the issues discussed involve harm to yourself or others.
How can the Service be accessed?
The school counselling service is open to all of our students.
Simply visit Amanda or Brigitte to make an appointment. Adults who know the young person, such as a teacher, can also suggest that a young person accesses school-based counselling but a conversation will always be held with the young person prior to any involvement with a counsellor to seek their permission.
What if I don’t feel comfortable talking to a counsellor?
There is a dedicated team of staff here at HHVCS who will be able to help. Each year group has an Achievement Leader and a Key Stage Coordinator.
There is also a dedicated Wellbeing Team who are on hand every day for you to talk to. And, of course, you can share your concerns with your form tutor who will be able to provide you with next steps and signpost you to other specialist members of staff who might be able to help.
